你们好！2020年伊始，突如其来的疫情打乱了我们平静的生活。近期，新冠肺炎疫情在严密有效的防范下，国内疫情防控的总体得到较好的控制。自疫情防控启动以来，北京工业大学也果断地采取了一系列有效措施，全力以赴阻断疫情传播途径，以打赢疫情防控阻击战为首要任务。在全校师生的共同努力下，学校疫情防控工作取得了阶段性成效。线上课堂的“云学习”、隔空千里的直播教学、在线会议的交流研讨、多学科交叉融合的科研战“疫”，成为学校疫情防控期间特殊的风景线。
How are you doing? The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020 has interrupted our normal life. However, the firm and effective prevention and control measures in China have yielded positive results. Since the launch of epidemic control and prevention, BJUT has taken a series of effective measures to contain epidemic transmission and make the battle against the epidemic the foremost task. With the consorted efforts of all BJUT faculty and students, the prevention and control has so far been very successful. The cloud learning, live streaming lectures, online meeting, multidisciplinary scientific research to counter the disease have become special sceneries during this special period.
近日来，境外部分地区却呈现确诊病例数迅速攀升、疫情进一步蔓延的趋势，防控情况依然严峻。世界卫生组织已将新冠肺炎疫情全球风险级别上调为“非常高”。此时此刻，正在境外高校访学、求学的师生，各位外籍教师和国际学生，你们都是学校心头最深的牵挂！希望大家都坚定信心，科学防疫，坚持学习，加强个人防护，与全体工大师生并肩战斗，夺取疫情防控的最后胜利!在这特殊的时期，我们也有一些建议想与大家分享：
However, as the confirmed cases of COVID-19 have risen in some countries and regions outside China, The World Health Organization has raised the global risk assessment level of COVID-19 to “very high”. We are, as always, concerned about all international faculty and students including those working or studying overseas. We hope you and all BJUTers have confidence that through scientific prevention & control, continued study, and enhanced personal protection, and we will ultimately win the fight against the disease. In this difficult time, we would like to share with you the following prevention and control suggestions:
坚定必胜信念，稳定心态
Be confident and keep calm
疫情当前，广大身处境外的师生，积极响应中国政府号召和学校疫情防控的整体部署，也许你刚到境外不久，在陌生的环境中会感到焦虑不安；也许你在境外通过在线课堂的方式，继续授课、听课。
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, overseas BJUTers have actively cooperated with prevention and control arrangements. Some of you may have just arrived at host universities. It is normal that you feel nervous and worried in a strange environment. Maybe you are studying through online classes.
无论如何，请大家一定要保持稳定平和的心态，乐观积极面对。树立起“战疫必胜”的坚定信心，以科学认识新冠肺炎疫情，不信谣、不传谣、不懈怠、不恐慌，用坚定的信心和稳定的心态打赢这场“战疫”！
Please keep calm and do not panic, be optimistic and positive. Be confident that the battle against the disease will certainly be won, learn more about the disease, do not believe in rumors and do not spread rumors, do not slack or panic. We believe that we will win the battle with confidence and calmness.
科学防控防疫，健康生活
Scientifically prevent & control and live a healthy life
请大家一定要通过正规渠道密切关注境内外，尤其是所在当地的疫情通报和防控指导，积极配合所在地采取的疫情防控措施，认真学习新冠肺炎预防知识。加强自身的防护，保持良好个人卫生，勤洗手、多饮水，经常换洗衣物，保持居住环境清洁，勤通风。尽量减少流动，除非必要，取消所有外出旅行，严格按照当地政府的建议和要求出行，尤其避免聚餐和到人员密集的公共场所活动。
We suggest that you follow the local epidemic situation, and actively cooperate with the respective local government in carrying out prevention and control measures. Learn more about the disease, enhance personal protection, maintain good personal hygiene, wash hands frequently, drink more water and change clothes more often. Keep the living environment clean and ventilate your room more. Try to avoid unnecessary outside activities and travelling, and make travel plans according to suggestions and requirement of local government. Avoid dinner parties and activities in crowded public places.
健康作息，增强自身免疫力，增强防范意识和自我保护能力，一旦自身出现发热、咳嗽等症状，不要带病工作、学习，并及时到指定医疗机构就诊、治疗，就医并如实告知医生发病事实，以免延误治疗。
Keep a healthy lifestyle, and enhance immunity and awareness of protection. If you have a fever, dry cough and other symptoms, stop your work or study, please seek medical treatment at the designated medical institution, and inform the medical personnel of your relevant contact history.

疫情期间，身处境外的各位师生更要静心、潜心坚持学习研究，发扬北工大“不息为体，日新为道”的拼搏精神，努力实现自我提升，为学校的事业发展继续贡献力量。
During the time of the epidemic, overseas BJUTers can spend time on study and research. Work hard to live up to our motto“Persistent pursuit as aim, consistent innovation as way” and contribute more to the development of BJUT.
希望在境外访学交流的师生，珍惜境外交流机会，充分利用好国际优质教育资源和线上教学资源自主学习，不断开阔视野、丰富积淀。
Overseas students should cherish the opportunities and take advantage of the advanced international education resources and internet resources for self-learning to open horizons and accumulate knowledge.
希望在境外尚未返京的外籍教师和国际学生，不论身在何处，关注中国政府和学校发布的官方消息，守护好自身及家人的健康安全；在学校通知正式开学时间之前，暂时不要返回境内，尤其是暂勿返京、返校。
For international faculty and students who have not returned to Beijing yet, wherever you are, please pay attention to the official information released by Chinese government and BJUT, safeguard the health and safety of family members and yourself. Please do not return to Beijing and the campus until the university releases further information.
